The Abortion Mega-MOB and the “Gotcha!” Moment in Fairview Heights

So Planned Parenthood sneaked a big one past the residents of Fairview Heights, IL. By now, you’ve probably seen reports of the new 18,000 square foot “mega-clinic” situated just across the river from St. Louis, MO. Construction began in August, 2018, but the identity of the owner and purpose of the facility, which is scheduled to be fully operational by mid-October, weren’t revealed to the public until just last week. Blueprints and construction paperwork were all generically labeled “Medical Office Building” or “MOB,” as Planned Parenthood used a shell company to keep everyone in the dark.

The reason for the secrecy, as explained by Planned Parenthood executives, was to prevent construction delays that might have arisen due to contractors objecting to working on the project. “We were really intentional and thoughtful about making sure that we were able to complete this project as expeditiously as possible,” said Colleen McNicholas, chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood for the region. She mentioned problems having delayed construction on other abortion facilities, such as a phone company refusing to install phone and data lines and a cabinet maker not delivering an order.

Yamelsie Rodriguez, president of the St. Louis region, explained the clandestine strategy similarly. “Unfortunately, just given all of the stigma associated with abortion care and the targeted regulations against abortion providers, we needed to make the decision to open this facility in secrecy just like many other Planned Parenthoods around the country had to do in order to protect the project and be able to complete it on schedule.”

So “thoughtful” were the masterminds behind the abortion MOB, the construction chief never knew until October 1st precisely what the facility whose construction he was overseeing was to be for. Local media cooperated as well, at least in the case of CBS News, who visited the site in August but didn’t report on it until early October, when the project was near completion.

I looked up thoughtful in the dictionary. The first definition was, “showing consideration for others; considerate.” This raises the question of exactly which “others” the abortion giant was showing consideration for. Was it considerate of the residents of Fairview Heights, who might have wanted to express an opinion on the mega-MOB moving into town? I’m thinking, Not so much. Was it considerate of the contractors and suppliers who might have objected to participating in the project? I’m thinking that would be a “No,” too.

I suppose you could twist this covert scheme into something you might call “considerate” in the sense that people of conscience would not have knowingly violated their conscience on the project. But then of course, the insiders had to know there would come the “Gotcha!” moment when the deed was done, at which point it would be too late for them to undo what they had done.

Ironically, even in its duplicity, there were two points of accuracy in Planned Parenthood’s shell game. For many women, abortion has a “Gotcha! moment too, when it’s too late to undo the deed. And the end always justifies the means when you’re The Mob.
